January 7-8, 2026

The New Governance Lab at Arizona State University (ASU) and The University of Hong Kong (HKU) are pleased to announce the invitation-only, second annual joint conference, which will take place on January 7–8, 2026 at the W. P. Carey School of Business in Tempe, Arizona.

The 2026 conference theme, Governance and Sustainability, will bring together faculty researchers from both institutions to explore emerging challenges and opportunities in these critical areas. The conference will feature presentations and discussions designed to deepen cross-university partnerships and generate new insights at the intersection of governance practices and sustainable business.

We are also honored to include two distinguished keynote speakers: Alon Brav, Bratton Family Distinguished Professor from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and Laura T. Starks, George Kozmetsky Centennial Distinguished University Chair and Professor of Finance from McCombs School of Business, University of Texas.

Building on the success of our previous ASU–HKU conference, the 2026 event underscores the commitment of both universities to strengthening international academic partnerships and generating impactful research with global relevance. We look forward to welcoming our collaborators and keynote speakers in January 2026 for this exciting academic exchange.
